Appointed boards and commissions offer residents an opportunity to take part in the affairs of their community, shape and influence public policy, and contribute their time and talents to preserve the high quality of life in the county. State law requires the county to create several of these boards and commissions. The Board of County Commissioners creates others.

, all appointed boards and commissions operate under the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of County Commissioners. All members appointed to a board or commission must follow the Johnson County government's
